Knit night is always such a pleasure, and it's always fun meeting up with knitters. Yesterday I was so lucky to join knit night at Stephen & Penelope in Amsterdam. Before knit night started I had to buy some yarn of course. Shopped some Quince & Co, Chickadee for mittens and a skein of sock yarn from Hedgehog Fibres. I met a Norwegian lady living in Amsterdam, and it's always especially nice to meet Norwegians outside of Norway. All the ladies at knit night was so nice, and they talked English almost all the time too. I understand bits of Dutch, but Dutch when it comes to knitting I'm blank. They were all in the middle, or maybe at the end? of a knitting along, and I was really tempted to knit Ursula by Kate Davies too.So many beautiful variations of Ursula in lovely colors. Very inspiring!
There was also one special person at knit night, and I have to admit being a bit starstruck, Stephen West was there. He was such a nice guy and really helpful. We talked about the Doodler, of course, the last mystery knit along he designed. I bought the pattern, but couldn't decide which colors to use. I'm real happy I couldn't decide since it ended up with Stephen picking out the colors for me, in Hedgehog Fibres sock yarn, of course. Now I'm extra excited to knit the Doodler. I got to see some shawls live yesterday too, and it is so beautiful. The problem now is to be patient and not cast on before I finished off some other projects I have to finish soon. But between Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, I think I will cast on. It is after all possible to knit on several projects at the same time.
I got to ask Stephen about a visit to Norway too. He would like that, but we'll have to wait and see when and where that might be.
