The best thing is when your kids ask you to knit them something. My daughter has always been fond of my knitting. Not always sweaters, but socks and hats. Before Christmas, yes, I know, before Christmas, it's been a while ... let's be honest when I first talk about this, during fall some time, she asked me to knit her a sweater. She sent me some pictures of sweaters with the same shape she wanted. All of the sweaters were knitted on really, really, really thick, huge knitting needles. Good thing she's not a knitter (yet), so I knitted a swatch (!) with two strands of Baby Merino from Drops on needles 5,5 mm. She approved it! And I know there were several shocking facts at the same time here. She asked for a sweater before the moving all of a sudden became an issue. Projects I haven't knitted on for a while, tend to end up in my UFO basket. The step to start knitting on them again, is just huge, a gigantic gap. Anyway, my daughter has been nagging me about the sweater for a long time, and she played the martyr card several time. I'm just never going to get a knitted sweater form you. Now it's done! Just in time for the real warm weather. Well, there's always another winter. And it turned out exactly how she wanted it to be. Not exactly like mum wanted. It's too short! But hey, she's allowed! I guess. I comfort myself with the fact the sweater is knitted in wool, and hopefully she have to wear something under it to keep warm. (On the other hand, who knows? This winter I observed short socks in cotton, vans and ancle high pants in snow and 10 minus.) And yes, I am becoming my mum. It's not a goal. The sweater is knitted in two strands of Baby Merino from Drops on needles 5,5 mm. It's just knitted after measurements and I used no patters.
