Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high
There's a land that I've heard of once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream,
Really do come true.
There's a land that I've heard of once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream,
Really do come true.
Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops,
High above the chimney tops,
That's where you'll find me.
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops,
High above the chimney tops,
That's where you'll find me.
Somewhere over the rainbow, blue birds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?
Happy Pride!

June is Pride month. As usual the media flows over by comments like; Why do we still need Pride, haven't the world come so far we don't really need it? Why should we celebrate diversity? We don't have a heterosexual day or flag!
Do we really need to go through this every year? Look at what's happening in Chechnya where gay men are being killed for their sexual orientation. Look to Russia where being gay is illegal. Look at Oslo after the Pride Parade and how some were beaten up for being gay. Do you still think we don't need the Pride? I wish we didn't, but we still do. We still need Pride, so let's celebrate with rainbows, lots of love and lots of joy. (And musicals and Eurovision Song Contest songs.) And by the way, equal rights for lesbians, gay, queer, transpersons don't mean less rights for you. The same way as equal rights for women don't mean less rights for men. It's not a cake!
Now, rant is over. I've knitted Pride socks with glitter of course. As it should be. I still have some yarn left and I have another skein too. I'm thinking about knitting another pair of socks and making a pair of ankle socks with the leftovers. The yarn is Opal and I used needles 2,5 mm.
Happy Pride, people!
