(FIRE!) timers teaterforestilling i Minster, katedralen i York.

Yes, this summer has started with rainy days. Not only rain, but those kind of days with both sun and rain. The kind of days where you one minute regret wearing shorts instead of jeans, and the next minute regret not bringing the sun lotion. The weather in York has been the same as the weather in Oslo. York is a small, cosy town with a lot of pubs, funny street names, nice yarn stores and great knitters. Of course I had to pop into some yarn stores in York. The yarn store with the best location was in the Shambles, which looked a bit like the Diagonal Alley from Harry Potter. I didn't buy that much yarn, but ended up with four skeins. Two skeins of brown lace yarn, which I hope to knit Soubrette by Mary Annarella one time. The sock yarn will end up as socks, but I have no pattern ready.
Since I was in York participating in an English class, there was sightseeing tours. I have to admit that two hours of guided tour is a bit too much for me, but four! (FOUR!) hours play in the Minster of York tops it all. The Mysterey Plays is supposed to be plays after a manuscript from the 1300s, and the story is from the creation to the last judgement. We watched the matinee of the Mystery Plays in York. I have to admit that the staging, the effects, the performers were impressive, but four (!) hours? It was just too long to sit still on a folding chair, but I guess it wouldn't have felt too long if I hadn't been seated on row two on a matinee. That meant the Minster was still bright and I couldn't knit.
But that didn't mean I didn't have time to knit during the week. There was class every day, and class is the perfect opportunity to knit. I had also contacted a knitting club in York before I left. I met up with them Monday and Wednesday. They meet at two different pubs. Knitters are generally nice people, and the knitters in York are no exception. It's so nice meeting up with people you talked to online. The Knit Knatter and Wool and Waffle day was so nice I actually want to travel to York again just to meet up another time. They are a pretty new group and have so many interesting plans as well. I think they plan a festival one time in the future, and if that happens I should bring some Norwegian knitters and go.
Yes, the knitting. I casted on a Marius sweater Sunday at the airport, and I finished the sweater before I left York. Now all the ends are woven in and everything is all done. The sweater is knitted using Drops Alpaca on needles 2,5 mm and 3,25 mm in size S.

Men hyggelig å treffe andre strikkere, da. Det er de beste folkene. :)
