The days come and go, and new themes show up in the Yarnlovechallenge at Instagram. I love the way the themes force me to reflect upon things. Knitting is just a hobby, just for fun, something to keep the fingers busy. It is, but it's also a lot more than that. It's therapautic, something to relax and unwind after a long day at work, something that forces you to disconnect from the world a bit and just enjoy the moment. It's social. I placed myself automatically next to a knitter at a work seminar the other day. Of course we started a conversation. The seminar was so much better with a knitter next to me. In a way it's something to avoid being annoyed by your surroundings, if you're queueing for a ride and have to wait. An hour long queue - no problem, I've got my knitting. And who would have thought it could be politcal as well. The hashtag Pussyhatproject is all around Instagram as a protest to a certain president's view of women's rights. Pink knitted hats are used as a protest and to show support to women's rights. I knitted a pussyhat for the demonstration that went on at the same day all around the world. Now a colleague wanted a pink hat for the Women's day, and of course she gets one. It's a good thing to use yarn and needles for something political as well.
