Harry Potter-mania

Finally I got the Charmed Knits in the mail. There are som many people talking about this book and knitting stuff from it, so I had to buy it. It's thicker than I thought and so many nice patterns. I also got a sockbook in the mail. So many really beautiful socks, and if I didn't have a thing for socks, I certainly got it now.

I found a lot of stuff I want to knit from Charmed knits, if I can find the time that is. I have started with a Harry Potter scarf. It's a Christmas present, but it's turning out really nice, so I would like one for myself as well. I also found some mittens and a hat I want. And for a person with a thing for socks, a pair of Harry Potter socks would do fine. Some nice pattern for sweaters as well, and yeah, wasn't it the issue with time again. The day is not long enough for all the things I want to knit. I have this endless list of things I want to knit, but no way I'm going to make it.

Kauni rainbow shawl

I have finally managed to get time to block my shawl. I have to say I'm very happy with it. I think this will be lovely to wrap around me on chilly days where my mood might not be the best. With these lovely colors you can't help but to feel in better mood. I'm really looking forward to use it. Right now I'm enjoying the summer that finally decided to show up. I have to say that Kauni rainbowcolor is a yarn I definitely will use againg. It's such a lovely yarn. So outstanding colors, so soft. I bet there will be knitted more in this yarn during the winter. I have used about 290 g of Kauni rainbowcolor and the shawl is knit after a pattern from Drops design.

Secret pal Hobbyboden, Debbie Bliss jacket and more socks

I've got a gift from my secret pal at Hobbyboden. It was worth a wait, 4 skeins of red Brilla, cotton and viscose yarn. Great gift and a yarn I haven't tried but thought of trying. Please notice the card, it's handpainted silk. I also got tea, but that is now on my job. Thanks a lot to my secret pal, still secret, but I got some clues so I'm going to try to track you down;)

I morgen, i morgen ...

I'm finished with the Debbie Bliss jacket for my daughter. It turned out very nice. Had some problems while knitting, but after some advice from Kattepus among several, I made my own twist for the decreasing for neckline. Now I just miss the ribbon, and I have bought one. The problem is that my corner in the living room have spread and is now full of yarn, WIP's and some projects some might call UFO's. I don't, but I might stretch it to overdue WIP's. I can't really find anything anymore, before I actually clean up. That's a scary thought, but I have thought it, now I just have to take action and do it. Maybe tomorrow? Or maybe the after that? Well, I have thought of cleaning up and isn't it the thought that counts?

Another pair of socks. This time for my daughter. Knitted in Lana Grossa and the pattern are once again jaywalkers after my memory. I should probably look up the pattern again and get the real jaywalkers.

Brukt Silja.

My daughter is going to a birthdayparty on Saturday and I have knitted a Calorimetry for gift. I've knitted in Silja, wool and polyamid.

Shop until you drop, or maybe not that much

Endte med å kjøpe to Fabel-nøster til sokker, to Smart og to Sisu.

I haven't shopped that much, but a little. It's not possible to let me loose in a yarn shop alone, even though I thought I managed real good. I dropped by Tjorven yarn at Majorstua in Oslo today before work. I have to admit that i drooled over some skeins of a very special silk yarn, but I didn't give into temptation. Ended up with two skeins of Fabel sock yarn, two skeins of Smart wool yarn and two skeins of Sisu wool with a little percentage of polyamid. The four red skeins I bought just to buy two booklets of patterns. Here you have to buy yarn to be allowed to buy some of the booklets of patterns. I found a lot of nice pattern I hopefully will knit some day. When I was downtown I bought a couple of knitting magazines as well. A lot of nice things in there too. Now I just have to find some time to knit all the things I want to knit, but that's where things go wrong, always. Time just run too fast when it comes to the time I use to knit. I really can't find enough time to finish all the projects I want to, but that's how it goes.

I have had my first day at work after the summer holidays. We started with just half a day and with us being taught something. That's an easy start. Of course I had my knitting in the purse and just look how much I did my half day at work. That has to be called a productiv day. Tomorrow is a full day at work with more of the same. I might put some knitting into my work day tomorrow too. Just for the record, it is the Debbie Bliss jacket I started on yesterday.

Two pairs of socks that kind of look like Jaywalker

On the way from Bergen to Oslo there are a lot of long tunnels with bad lighting. Not the best conditions to work the edging of a shawl. Started on a pair of socks in Regia instead. Didn't remember the pattern of Jaywalker, but I did my own twist and they kind a look like Jaywalkers, don't they? Two skeins of Regia are enough for a pair of socks for me and a pair for my son. Good thing my feet are small.

Her er lua.

I got two skeins of Smart wool yarn from Margrethe who was my secret pal in July at Hobbyboden and I also got a pattern for a hat. Here is the finished hat. It's too big for my little boy, but I'm thinking of giving it away as a Christmas present and knit one in a smaller size for my son. The hat is so soft and great.

I have started on a jacket for my daughter in Debbie Bliss cotton angora. The yarn is so soft and delicious. I think she is going to love that jacket. I originally casted on for the biggest size, but that was way too big. Actually it was so big that it looked like it would fit her when she's a teen, and that's a little too long to wait considered she's five. I am very ancious to know how many skeins I'm going to use. There are a lot of great patterns for a top, a sweater and a jacket, all that I would like to knit for myself. What I eventually will knit, depends on how many skeins left after I knitted the jacket.

By the way, today is the last day in my vacation. Tomorrow I'm going back to work and I haven't even gotten the lazy, hazy summer-feeling. Too bad it's almost a year until next summer, ten months ... Well, what else to do than knit warm clothes?

Secret pal 11 questionnaire

Yarn shopping and rainbow shawl

I have visited Pinnsvin design in Bergen. Oh, happy days. So much delicious, fantastic, gorgous yarn, just waiting for a new home. Many inspiring books and magazines which looked a bit lonely in the shelves. I could easily spend a day there, touched the yarn, looked at some patterns, touched some more yarn. This time I was there with my two children at 2 and 5 years old and my husband. I think the last one was less patience than the two first ones. I bought three books, Regia-yarn and Debbie Bliss cotton angora. I'm happy. I'm going to sit down in peace and quiet to look at the patterns I bought, then Im going to order yarn on internet later. Should've had a day there without husband and children, but my wallet is probably happier with my visit today than if I was there alone.

I have knitted a lot on my rainbow colored shawl in Kauni. I think I can finish it tomorrow. It is a very easy pattern to knit and the yarn is just great. I might do another one for the Octoberpink 2007 project.

October is pink this year

I haven't mailed and signed up for Octoberpink 2007, an action to help research on breast cancer, but I have knitted my contribution already. Octoberpink 2007 is a bnch of ladies making things to put out on sale on QXL, the Norwegian version of e-bay, and the money raised is given to research on breast cancer. This is a good way to support it, by knitting and selling. I have knitted this beaded "neck". I miss a button, but I have to go to Bergen city tomorrow, so I buy it then.

Flower Basket Shawl is finished. It is large and nice, and the Kauni-yarn is soft and great. This shawl is a Christmas present for my friend. I'll take it home and block it there.

Babybooties

I have knitted babybooties after a pattern made by Lilleduck. They turned out pretty nice and they are easy to knit. The parents liked them very much too.

Strikker i brun Kauni.

We have driven from Oslo to Bergen. That means a lot of hours for knitting. I started on Flower Basket Shawl and are almost finished. I'm knitting in brown Kauni.
