Today it's perfect knitting weather. It's a mix of sleet and snow and wind outside, the kind of weather that is nice to look out on. Except from a short walk, I've been indoor with my knitting and a book today. These kind of days are cozy, lazy and relaxing. I've been knitting my Hanneli-sweater with a lots of cables. But a lot of cables keeps the interest up and you can really see the progress you're making. With all these kind of cables, I thought about different techniques when it comes to cabling. I usually use a cable needle, but not always. And what do you do if you forgot the cable needle? I usually slip all the stitches in the cable and pick them up again in the right order again. Then I knit them. That works fine, especially if the yarn is not slippery and the stitches frog right away. If the yarn is slippery, I knit the stitches in the right order while they are still on left needle and without slipping them over to the right needle until I've knitted all the stitches in the cable. It's real handy to cable without the cable needle, especially if you bring your knitting on a trip. Cable needles have a tendency to disappear or get lost.
