Men hey, hun får få lov.

The best thing is when your kids ask you to knit them something. My daughter has always been fond of my knitting. Not always sweaters, but socks and hats. Before Christmas, yes, I know, before Christmas, it's been a while ... let's be honest when I first talk about this, during fall some time, she asked me to knit her a sweater. She sent me some pictures of sweaters with the same shape she wanted. All of the sweaters were knitted on really, really, really thick, huge knitting needles. Good thing she's not a knitter (yet), so I knitted a swatch (!) with two strands of Baby Merino from Drops on needles 5,5 mm. She approved it! And I know there were several shocking facts at the same time here. She asked for a sweater before the moving all of a sudden became an issue. Projects I haven't knitted on for a while, tend to end up in my UFO basket. The step to start knitting on them again, is just huge, a gigantic gap. Anyway, my daughter has been nagging me about the sweater for a long time, and she played the martyr card several time. I'm just never going to get a knitted sweater form you. Now it's done! Just in time for the real warm weather. Well, there's always another winter. And it turned out exactly how she wanted it to be. Not exactly like mum wanted. It's too short! But hey, she's allowed! I guess. I comfort myself with the fact the sweater is knitted in wool, and hopefully she have to wear something under it to keep warm. (On the other hand, who knows? This winter I observed short socks in cotton, vans and ancle high pants in snow and 10 minus.) And yes, I am becoming my mum. It's not a goal. The sweater is knitted in two strands of Baby Merino from Drops on needles 5,5 mm. It's just knitted after measurements and I used no patters.

Late Night Feelings

Not that it's late night, but the nights are now lighter. The sun stays up longer. It's not longer freezing cold once the sun is gone either. And it is actually possible to sit outside even when the sun isn't there. I don't knit as much as I would like to right now. It has something to do with my exams getting closer. And too close too fast. When I don't have to take notes when I study, I knit at the same time. And I take breaks. But I really feel like knitting all the things right now. Of course my knitting mojo showed up once I couldn't knit as much. It might be connected. I finished the sweater to my daughter, but I don't have a photo of it yet. I started a test knit run by Heartfulknit. A sweater with a circular yoke and a color work yoke. I stash dived and found some Wollmeise and Tweedy Todd. And hurray me for using yarn from my stash. I feel pretty good in using yarn from my stash now. Ok, I admit I fill it up too, but at least I'm using the yarn. It's exciting to see if I have been able to decrease my stash by the end of the year. In between studying and reading, I'm knitting a sweater in the sun. And I'm enjoying the spring nights. Mostly because I don't study late evenings.

Can We Pretend
So can we pretend that I'm 22 today?
Dancin' on the tables with you, oh yeah
Can we pretend that we all end up okay?
I just wanna forget with you, oh yeah
Can we pretend that we both like the president?
Can we pretend that I really like your shoes? Hell yeah
Can we pretend? 'Cause honestly, reality it bores me
Let's pretend, oh, let's make believe
Can we pretend I really like your shoes? Hahaha ...

I just love the lyrics of one of the new songs to Pink.

And can we pretend I don't have two chins and look pregnant in some of the photos? And I did pretend it was so natural to strike a pose in front of the camera in a park a sunny afternoon with lots of people walking around. I finished my Nordiske Sweater in the end. Or in the end? It didn't take me more than three days to finish. I love the yarn. Kettleyarnco, highly recommended. I used Islington, which is Bluefaced Leicester and silk. Lovely yarn and a gorgeous color!

Do It Again
Kanskje litt for godt? Påsketur i nærområdet. Slett ikke så verst.

Sometimes logic thinking is turned off in my head. Today I decided to take a day off from studying, and obviously I turned off my brain at the same time. I started Nordiska Sweater designed by Caitlin Hunter in yarn from Kettleyarnco. The yarn is just gorgeous. I love the deep blue color. And it's such a joy to knit with as well. It just runs over the needles so easy and fast. Maybe a bit too fast? No, I think the blame is totally the lack of reading ability and logic thinking. I knew I was supposed to have 284 stitches when I was done. And the repeat was to be done 41 times, I thought, but the pattern said 41 rows. Times meant 82 rows, so I knitted double as long as I needed. I should have discovered it when the sleeve stitch count was 80 stitches each, but noooo ... I didn't think about it. So I had to frog a lot. And yesterday when I started, I cast on in the contrast color. And I could have switched the contrast color with the main color. If I only had enough yarn of the contrast color I cast on the sweater in. But I didn't. So I had to frog it. Obviously a sweater I have to knit at least two times before I can finish it. Today I brought my knitting with me outside. We went for a walk to a small lake close by. Not too bad.

SOS
Send hjelp!

Send help! I have an increasing pile of books in the category To be read. The pile of books in the category Read increases too. The stupid thing is those two piles of books are fiction, and not the curriculum I have to study for my exams. Those two piles, Read and I have to read this, are quite stabil, as in not moving. One of the piles should have been increasing and the other decreasing. I think I'm looking at some stress studying right before my exams. My startitis doesn't help either. I feel like casting on all the projects. My trips to the stash doesn't help either. Every time I look for something I discover how much nice yarn I have and get ideas of what to knit. It might have something to do with the fact that everything feels more exciting than studying. And I have baked today too. I have been fighting the urge to sort all my books ... so far.

Come Home

It's Easter. It's a holiday. It's sun. It's great. I should've studied for my exams, but why do I always have to study when it's sun and nice weather? Ok, I have to admit it might have something to do with the exams being during spring when the weather changes. I feel how much I've longed for sun and warm weather when spring si here. I hibernate in winter. And when spring comes, I notice how much I enjoy life again. And the sun. With less clothes. I know it's a bit weird for a wool-enthusiast and a knitter, but it really doesn't help that much with a lot of warm clothes. I love spring and I love summer. And with the warm weather my knitting mojo came back too. I finished my Soldotna top. I used about three days, if I don't count the two days I used knitting it too small and frogging it all again. A real quick knit. And a very fun knit too. And I want to cast on one more. But I'm not going to. But I want to ... I also have the perfect yarn for another one. But I'm not going to ... My Soldotna top is knitting using Hedgehog Fibres, the white spotted one, The Knitting Goddess, the blue one, Cascade Heritage, the pink one and Wollmeise, the black one. I think I'm going to use it a lot. I knitted it a bit longer than the pattern, since I have outgrown the cropped top.

House of Glass

Well, what did you think? I was going to find some gorgeous yarn and not knit something from it. Of course not. Look at the yarn while I finished off my current WIPs? Not going to happen. It almost ended up as another WIP, though. After knitting halfway down on the bodice, I discovered the first rows of fair isle was too tight. I couldn't get it over my head. I almost threw the project in my knitting basket, but I decided; nope; I want this done fast. So I frogged the whole thing and started over. Now I'm back on track. I think my Soldotna top is going to be a bit longer than the original. My stomach has outgrown cropped top. I'm using some of my luxury yarn on this top, Hedgehog fibres, The Knitting Goddess, Cascade Heritage and Wollmeise. And all from my stash. And I follow the theme for the Instagram challenge, Lagerfest as well. In April the theme is spring and color bomb, and I have to say this version of Soldotna has both. I hope to finish during the weekend without frogging back.

Det er sol ute. Det er vår. Jeg har nytt fint garn. Jeg har masse flott årgangsgarn. Jeg vil strikke masse. Alt.

The sun is shining. It's spring. I have some gorgeous new yarn. I have a lot of fantastic yarn in my stash. I want to knit a lot. Everything. Now. Right away. Just not the projects I already have on my needles, of course. I want to cast on something new. Right now. Yes, no, I'm going to finish off some of the many projects I have around the house. Just look, isn't Soldotna Crop designed by Caitlin Hunter really nice? I'm just mentioning it ...

Come As You Are

Easter is almost here, and Norwegians tend to travel to the mountains and seek out the snow, or what's left of it. And while the are skiing they eat the Norwegian version of Kit Kat. I'm not going to hunt down the snow, but enjoying the city and spring. But if I was, I have the sweater ready. Not that I think I would ever wear this sweater, but I have it. My brother called and wanted one, and when he calls, big sis just does what he says. I didn't use a pattern, but it's three colors and the name embroidered in front. Not too hard. I just don't like embroidering. The sweater is knitted using 3.threads Strikkegarn from Rauma, since that's the only brand I found on short notice which had the right colors. The sweater is done and ready to be hung up as Easter decoration. Not too bad, nine days after the phone call from my brother. Included the three days it took me to change some red skeins to green skeins, and the one day it took me from the call to going to the store and buy the yarn. I don't count this as buying yarn, btw, since it wasn't for me and most of the yarn is gone already. I have some leftovers, but I hope to turn it into a matching hat before Easter. (The modell is my son, and I bribed him with the chocolate of course.)

My Bad

Or actually, I haven't really done anything wrong. But what are you actually doing at the Knitter's Spring market right after Edinburgh Yarn Festival??? Well, it is actually possible to join the Knitter's Spring market without buying yarn. Almost! I bought one skein. One! From Garnsurr, and have you heard about Garnsurr? "Garnsurr is a new enterprise which will dye and knit yarn as an integration project for refugee women. The project is aimed at adult women, and mostly the women struggling to find jobs because they have trouble learning and understanding Norwegian." I really love Garnsurr. Not only because of the fantastic colors, but the whole concept. I mean, buying a skein from them practically is charity, and maybe I could write it up as a tax reduction?! A lot of temptation today, but I managed to stick with the one skein. I cast on a pair of socks using only leftover yarn from other sock pairs I've knitted. It's going to be a lot of ends to weave in, but I think they're going to be good. And yes, I had a nice lunch with nice people too.

The Seed
I egen hage! Men først vår.

Spring is here! I had my first outdoor knitting in my new garden yesterday. Not a long knitting session, but a small one, my knitting, a book and some music in the sun. In my own garden! It's not big. It's hardly a garden, more a patch. But it has grass and a place to sit. I have no idea how much sun I'll get when the trees get their leaves. I think the veranda in the apartment where I moved from, had more sun. And yes, I'll probably miss the evening sun I had. But I have my own garden. Patch. I think I'll be out there a lot. If the weather isn't horrible. You never know in Norway. Sometimes we get a green winter and call it summer. I hope this summer is going to be warm and sunny. I can do a lot of outdoor knitting in the garden and outdoor reading in the garden if it's a warm summer. While I was sitting outside yesterday, I planned where to plant flowers, herbs and strawberries, but I think it'll be wise to wait a little bit. Or I can plan, but maybe just wait a bit before running off to buy it all. I think this summer is going to be great! But first spring! I know a lot of people don't like summer time and would like to have winter time all year. And now I'm talking about the time and not the season, of course. But I love summertime and my body wants summertime the whole year. I hope next outdoor knitting in my garden is not far away. I mean in my patch. I read 64 by Hideo Yokoyama for those interested in it, and my knitting project was a test knit.

my strange addiction

Some might all it that, but it's just the best addiction, right? Knitting and yarn! Just think about how many hours of fun there is in a skein of yarn. Could've been addicted to worse things.
I have finished a pair of socks. I casted them on when I was in Edinburgh. Socks are my go to knitting whenever I need a project I can bring in my purse. I bought the yarn in London some years ago, and I have thought it was too nice to knit socks of. But at the same tine I haven't found any other things to knit with it, so I ended up knitting socks after all. I'm really happy with the socks. A bit of glitter and I love the name too, Ziggy Stardust Striations from I Knit or Dye. I'm sure I bought the yarn about three years ago.
Legerfest, yarn fest at Instagram for April is color bomb, so I might do that in April. My stash contain s a lot of colors.
