As usual my plans for what to knit before Christmas is full, actually so full it looks like I forgot something important when I made the plan: Time to actually knit all the projects. I have at least 12 projects to knit before Christmas. Every moment I can I knit. Believe me, I really don't have time to do this update;) Well, somethings are getting done. This is a tunic in Christmas red for a little girl.
Guess what this is? I can't show what it is until after Christmas, but I like it so much I'm going to knit myself one after Christmas.

More yarn! Somebody take away my creditcards, please
I have bought two more skeins. Well enough is enough! I'm on a yarn diet and forbid myself to buy any more yarn in 2008. Thank goodness it's not many weeks left of this year. I just had to order two skeins of Arwetta's sock yarn, that everybody keeps bragging about. I can't imagine I have the time to knit socks of it before Christmas, but right after, then I'm going to knit me some socks. The color was a bit darker than I expected. I ordered purple, but I thought the color was much lighter than it turned out. Anyway, it's going to be socks for me, and the yarn was very soft.

A birthday present for a girl who's turning seven close to Christmas. I'm missing a ribbon around the neck, but except that it's done. The pattern is from Samsøe's book Kæk og klassisk børnestrik. I've knitted the tunic in Alaska, wool yarn.Monday, November 17, 2008
More yarn
That's what happens when you go to a Christmas party for knitters and leave with more yarn than you arrived there with. Jeg strikker litt også. Nå har jeg strikket ferdig oktober-sokkene. De er strikket etter mønsteret Flutter-by-socks.
I also knit, not just buy yarn, even though it might look like otherwise. I have finished the October-socks. It's Flutter-by-socks, and I have to say it was an easy pattern.
Christmas is coming, and I knit Christmas gifts all day long. I can't blog what I'm knitting yet, but some of you might recognise this?
I have also finished a Calorimetry, and I can blog it, because it's not a Christmas gift. I used Julia, wool yarn.

You've got mail
Today the mailman had two gifts for me, a gift from my book swap friend at Ravelry and a gift from my secret pal at Hobbyforum. My secret friend sent me three skeins of linnen yarn from Drops, a new type of yarn. I also got patterns. Lots of thanks to you my secret pal. What a great gift! Now I just have to find out who you are.
My book swap friend from the USA picked the perfect gift to me. She sent me a Harukami Muraki book. I have just finished reading After Dark and loved it. I love the way Harukami paints pictures in my head with his words. I'm really looking forward to read this book. I also got four skeins from Knit Picks, two sock yarn and two... I love Knit Picks' yarn, and I hate the fact they don't ship to Norway. Well, from another perspective, my economy might think it's the best thing. Anyway, I'm going to knit me another pair of socks and maybe a neckwarmer or a hat to me, or maybe I find another project for the other yarn. It's so lovely and soft.

No, I haven't gone completely mad, if that's what you think. I just haven't been up to date in the Sock kal 2008. I took a quick glance at the October socks, but I thought they looked difficult, so I put them away for a while. I meant to knit them before October ended, but sometimes (read: when I knit), time goes by too quickly. Before I realised it, October was over and still no October-socks from me. Finally when Nita visited yesterday I felt the urge to look at the pattern again. That was a smart move. It turned out the pattern is easy and fast to knit. I still haven't knitted the pair, but have finally started on the socks. With the speed these socks are growing, I think I can finish them during the weekend. On the other side, some other projects might turn up during the weekend as well. The pattern is Flutter-by-socks and I knit in California Salida, which is a sock yarn I haven't tried before.

Welcome to the world
A colleague has just got a little prince. Of course I had to knit him a welcome to the world gift. I have knitted a hat and stockings from Nøstebarn. So small, but the boy isn't big either. I hope it will fit this winter at least.

Mermaid in progress
Minnes retriller;)
I have started on my Christmas presents. Mermaid designed by Hanne Falkenberg is easy and fast to knit, at least after I used some time to understand how to read the pattern in Danish. I'm not really good in Danish obviously. Actually, I think I understand English patterns better than Danish patterns.
You know the feeling you get when you weave in the last end of a project? It's great isn't it? Finally finished! That finally-done-feeling was overwhelming this time. I worked on this dress since the start of this summer, but put it away until a couple of weeks ago. Well, Adam wasn't that long in Paradise either. I noticed something peculiar when I blocked it. It was too short! It was my lenght and the receiver of this dress is taller than me. That's what happens when the dress is put aside for too long. Sometimes you just forget how long you actually have knitted and start up a completely different place in the pattern. I can promise that I would have been x-rated if I was broadcasted that evening.

I can't stand the thought of frogging the whole d*** thing, so I'm buying more yarn and am starting over. I can promise you I'm not going to do the same mistake again.

Sunday stroll in sunny weather
Well, it's not what I have pictures off, but that's what I did today. We walked for about two-three hours, and isn't that impressive? At least until I can tell you that the pace was set by my kids. They're three and six years old. To state that we got some training is to stretch it a bit too far, but we got a lot of fresh air though. Kids are like kids, one step forward, four steps back, two to the side and two steps forward again.

Strolling isn't the only thing I did this weekend. I have finally taken a picture of the September socks. They are knitted in Sisu and fit my daughter. The pattern is Dancing lady from Knitty 2006.
I have also knitted a pair of mittens, size 7-9 years. I really don't know who'll get them, but it's always great with a couple of extra gifts since Christmas is getting closer. They are knitted in Rauma wool.
I have knitted some pairs of Mitered Mittens by E. Zimmerman lately. These are size 7-9 years and are knitted in Merino wool from Drops. A bit harder to seem in threads after cut just one stitch, but I made it. I just don't think I will knit them in a smaller size, not without switching to a thinner yarn. Saturday, November 01, 2008
Sometimes I actually finish a UFO
I started this sweater when I attended the big knitting happening in Tananger earlier this fall. I knitted something wrong when I talked too much, but Kattepus helped me. Again I knitted something wrong, frogged it and continued after a little break. The arms got frogged a couple of times, but I didn't give up. The sweater has been finished a while, but everything about this sweater has taken a while. The owner has received it and worn it already. I'm pleased with the outcome, but have to admit I'm not going to knit another of this sweater again, at least not in the near future.
