We all wish to be individuals, independent, to stand out, but how great it is to be one of many too. It's so nice to be able to talk about needles, what type of material, too pointy, too round, too long, too short, too hard, too soft, Or to talk about yarn, hand dyed yarn, mohair, which doesn't count as yarn since mohair is "an experience", woolly yarn, soft yarn, squishy yarn, how much yarn and even more yarn. I'm talking about Oslo Knitting Festival, of course. The weekend has been full of knitting, talk about knitting, knitting work shops, knitting shopping and knitting friends. A Norwegian newspaper wrote about the desire to make a festival with the same vibe as the music festival Øya, which didn't meant ladies at the age of 50 to be sitting in a corner with their knitting. Well, you can't have it all. I have to say this lady almost 50 was seen a lot in a corner with her knitting this weekend, and I love both Øya and Oslo Knitting Festival. And as usual at a knitting festival, I shopped yarn, cast on too many projects and added too many projects to my wish list, talked to a bunch of great people and not only people I knew, but also some new really nice knitters. Stephen West is a real nice guy with a great sense of humor and a lot of knowledge about shawls. Plystre still makes the greatest back packs. I still like to knit. I still have too much yarn, but according to Stephen West it's not a stash but a collection. I'm a collector. Four year between the photos, but we haven't changed at all?!
